2001 Gibson J-190 EC Super Fusion. Super rare flattop Jazz Acoustic. If you know anything about these rare guitars..
You know how awesome they are. It's a guitar that's sort of a combo of a Gibson J-200 and a Super 400 with the body size of an ES-175! The guitar isn't mint...
It has been played, rightfully so! Again, this a a model that is very rare..
Gibson only produced them for a few years, approx 2000 to 2005. This is my favorite acoustic guitar, hands down..I have put J-190's up against Taylors, Martins, Seagulls... In my opinion, it kills all of them in sound, in killer looks and style.
When these first came out in 2001, I knew I had to have one or two, or three, or four.... The finish is a beautiful tobacco sunburst with some flame maple here and there.
Cosmetically, there is some light wear. I will do my best to describe them and they're all shown in the pics as well. Some wear around the sound hole (as seen in pics) as well as a couple of dings on the top of the body of the guitar near the edge of the binding above the knob area. The knobs have a couple of chips on the edges. Beautiful flame maple on back of guitar and back of neck! The guitar sounds amazing unplugged.. But it's also just as gorgeous plugged in.
Both pickups feature significantly different sounds! The piezo system might need some tweaking; the B, G, and D strings are quieter than the others.
The tuners were upgraded to modern Kluson retrofit tuners with pearl buttons. They work extremely well, no extra holes as they are a factory match to the Gibson Klusons. Comes with nice TKL case.
Here are the factory specs. Top Wood: Solid Sitka Spruce. Back and Sides: Solid Curly Maple. Gibson Montana's master luthier, Ren Ferguson, along with other luthiers, made this combination of Montana acoustic and Jazz archtop semi-hollow body guitar in the the early 2000's but you cannot find new ones and they won't custom build them anymore. The J-190 has an antique natural solid sitka spruce top, a solid arched figured maple back with no seams, with flamed maple sides and neck covered with an ebony fingerboard.
The arched back of the J190 is made for Gibson Montana in Nashville in the same press used to make the ES-175. Masterbuilt Gibson guitars feature: bookmatched woods, a dovetail neck-to-body joint, carved and scalloped top bracing, and authentic lacquer finish. Pick ups include a single-coil neck Lace Sensor and at the bridge, a Fishman Transducer. There is a three-way toggle, two volume controls and a tone control to "dial in" your own blend of electric and acoustic sounds.
This guitar is a very rare find and you only see them come available if someone is willing to sell. I'm pretty well stocked up at the moment, so I'm letting this one go to a good home. This is one of the best sounding acoustic guitars you will ever hear! Please feel free to ask any detailed questions.
More images available upon request. There are the usual bumps, nicks and bruises.
